On May 1, the CT Women’s Alliance hosted their annual event at the Sheraton Hartford South in Rocky Hill, CT.  This year, proceeds were directed to the non-profit:  Female Soldiers: Forgotten Heroes.

Female Soldiers: Forgotten Heroes is a community-based, transitional home for homeless female veterans . Their program offers or refers residents to specialized services that address the unique needs of returning female veterans.

FS:FH home serves as an important reminder of the courage and strength of our female soldiers who have sacrificed so much to protect our way of life. It is a sanctuary for those who have returned home bearing the physical, mental, and emotional scars of combat so that we may live in freedom and security.

Non-Scents Flowers was a proud sponsor for the day’s event, and we support FS:FH whole heartedly.  As the colors that represent The CT Women’s Alliance are turquoise and purple,  Non-Scents  created  purple and turquoise flower arrangements in white, wicker baskets that were donated for use as centerpieces at every table.  Each centerpiece was available for sale, and the proceeds were donated to Female Soldiers: Forgotten Heroes. There were also speakers throughout the day lecturing on  a variety of subjects, including Deb Cheslow, the first female U.S. Air Force pilot, who encouraged everyone to reach beyond what logic tells us is impossible. She challenged us all to be “remarkable” women.

It was an exciting, memorable day, and Non-Scents Flowers is proud to be a part of such a supportive group of women in the CT Women’s Alliance.
