Love Note Day Sticky You may be wondering, "Why the heck is a company going all out for a wanna-be Valentine's Day holiday at the end of September". Or maybe you're thinking. "Seriously, Love Note Day...as if one holiday that makes you feel bad about being single isn't enough". It's okay if you identify with either of the two voices I've presented above. To be honest, I was thinking the same thing before I reminded myself of the reason I started Non-Scents. I started this company to lift spirits and help others make people smile not because something was funny but because someone made them feel inspired, loved, thought of, or remembered. Just take a moment and think about it; when are the times that you truly feel elated...like your heart is rising up in your chest and you can't keep a smile off your face. For me, I always got that feeling when someone did something kind for me with no apparent reason. I get it when I know someone I care about is super busy but they still take the time to let me know they haven't forgotten about me. When I was in a relationship, I got that feeling when the person I was with would leave me a note or get me small gift just because they were thinking of me and wanted me to know that. So, in short of telling you my entire life story, I'm going to share with you something I've learned about people:

No matter how many friends we have on Facebook, number of twitter followers, amount of comments on our blog.. no matter what we look like or where we go to school or work, what really makes us happy is truly knowing that someone else cares about us, thinks of us, and that we matter to them without any famous gift-giving holiday telling them to remember us.

So take Love Note Day as a day to make someone else smile and know that they're loved. For me, I'll be sending love notes to my best friends and my mom because sometimes, I'm not always the best at keeping in touch but that doesn't mean I'm not thinking of them every day when I see their photos on my desk each morning. If you have a special someone, use this little-known holiday to say, "I love you" without any pressure to get red roses and go out to a fancy dinner...instead of literally saying, "I love you", find a way to express all the ways and reasons that you love them.
